Four Films from Oberhausen at Kai Middendorff Galerie, Frankfurt

From 7 October to 19 November 2011 the Kai Middendorff Galerie in Frankfurt will present a show titled Four films from Oberhausen featuring four works by outstanding film artists from Israel, the United Kingdom and Germany that were screened at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 2010 or 2011. The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Oberhausen festival and the Kai Middendorff Galerie and represents the first cooperative project of its kind between a film festival and a fine arts gallery. Kai Middendorff selected them from nearly 300 titles that ran in the competitions at the last two festivals in Oberhausen.

ROEE ROSEN (b. 1963 in Israel, lives in Tel Aviv) received the Orrizonti Award at the Venice Film Festival in 2010 for his film “TSE (OUT)” and an award in this year’s International Competition in Oberhausen. The Kai Middendorff Galerie will be showing Roee Rosen’s work Hilarious, which was screened in Oberhausen in 2010.

(b. 1978 in France, lives in London) received this year her second principal prize of the International Jury in Oberhausen, this time for her film The Artist, which is on view in Frankfurt; in 2010 she won the award for Monolog. For this year’s Frieze Art Fair in London, Prouvost has been asked to develop works for the supporting programme at the fair.

VANESSA NICA MUELLER (b. 1978 in Germany, lives in Hamburg) received first prize this year in Oberhausen’s German Competition for “Traces of an Elephant”, which Kai Middendorff selected for the exhibition.

MICHEL KLÖFKORN (b. 1967 in Germany, lives in Frankfurt) has received several distinctions for his work, among them the German Short Film Award in 2004. In Oberhausen he most recently won first prize in the German Competition in 2009 with n.n.. His animated film Liquid Paper, chosen for the exhibition in Frankfurt, won a "Special Mention” this year in Oberhausen.
